A Smart Urben Blu Restroom at the Heart of the Black Lives Matter Park Revitalization – Albany, NY

As part of a broader urban renewal initiative, the City of Albany, New York, recently undertook major improvements to Black Lives Matter Park, aiming to create a more inclusive, welcoming, and accessible public space. One of the key additions to this revitalized park is the installation of a Urben Blu smart public restroom.

Strategically located within the park, this self-cleaning, vandal-resistant restroom provides residents and visitors with safe, modern, and universally accessible sanitary facilities. Equipped with automated cleaning and locking systems, the unit allows the city to reduce maintenance efforts while greatly improving the user experience.

The project was officially inaugurated in the presence of Mayor Kathy Sheehan and several community partners. Public feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the tangible impact that thoughtful infrastructure can have on everyday quality of life.

This installation reflects the City of Albany’s commitment to modernizing public spaces with durable, smart, and people-focused solutions.
