A smart Urben Blu restroom at the foot of the Van Horne overpass – Montreal, Qc

As part of an urban revitalization initiative led by the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough, a smart, self-cleaning Urben Blu public restroom was installed near the Van Horne overpass skatepark—a site well known to urban sports enthusiasts and cyclists using the active transportation corridor.

This evolving public space, located at the intersection of several cultural and community axes, is being reimagined as a dynamic and inclusive gathering place. The broader project includes:

  •  the addition of a basketball court,
  •  new green spaces,
  •  and urban furniture designed to promote social interaction and relaxation.

The Urben Blu restroom installation reflects a commitment to rethinking public space to better meet the needs of users, offering a sanitary solution that is durable, clean, accessible, and vandal-resistant.

Engineered for high-traffic urban environments, the unit—delivered with a weight of over 13,600 kg (30,000 lb)—combines autonomy, security, and user comfort, and contributes to the ongoing improvement of infrastructure in one of Montreal’s most active public zones.
