A smart self-cleaning public washroom now open in Centennial Park – Sioux Lookout, ON

Following years of planning and community collaboration, the Municipality of Sioux Lookout launched its first self‑cleaning public washroom in Centennial Park in October 2024. This gender‑neutral, family‑friendly facility is fully accessible and designed for minimal maintenance, offering an upgrade to local infrastructure and visitor experience.

Equipped with automated cleaning systems, the restroom cleans and disinfects the toilet after every use and performs a full floor cleaning after every 10th use. With built‑in vandal and graffiti resistance, plus a fire‑resistant interior and sealed trash bin, the unit is engineered for durability and safety.

Operating daily from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., the washroom features a 10‑minute usage limit with audio alerts to enhance availability and discourage loitering.
