The City of Waterloo is introducing a smart public restroom at the corner of King and Williams streets, addressing the lack of such facilities in Uptown Waterloo. The restroom, provided by Urben Blu, will be fully autonomous, featuring self-cleaning and sanitizing after each use. It will be unisex, accessible, and include a baby change table, catering to public feedback. The restroom, expected to open in fall 2023, is part of a larger revitalization project led by the Uptown Waterloo BIA, which includes pop-up markets, entertainment spaces, and educational elements highlighting the area’s history. The project is funded by various grants and aims to enhance the overall experience in Uptown Waterloo.
